French Friday #20: Mystery and Serenity

Have you ever seen something so beautiful that it makes your heart ache? A scene so exquisite that you wish time could stop, but you know it won’t, so you try to absorb everything around you to preserve the memory. We came across a few of those places during our time in France. After last week’s horror show, I thought we could all use some pretty to set us off on daydreams for the weekend. Enjoy. (All photos are mine or my family’s).

Mont Saint-Michel. Looking out to sea at low tide.

Eglise St. Léonard in Fougères.

On the grounds at Chantilly.

A pietà in the Eglise St. Germain l'Auxerrois in Paris.

The American Cemetery above Omaha Beach in Normandy.

Double rainbow over Montmartre at nightfall.
